The Managing Director has reviewed the water supply status after restoration of the water supply from the Godavari Drininking Water Supply Project after attending the leakage. During the discussions the Director(Tech) and CGM(E), Trans.Circle informed that all the supplies are normalized  and no turbidity is observed.

Further, it is also informed that earlier the Manjeera water is pumped from Patancheru to Lingampally reservoirs to supply the water to Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Erragadda etc.  Many Sherilingampally Municipal Circle areas such as Chandanagar, HUDA Colony, Vemana Colony etc were also supplied from the Manjeera Ph-I, 900mm dia PSC pipeline, which is laid in 1965.

Now the water is being given from Lingampally reservoir towards Patancheru i.e., in reverse direction as the Manjeera source is completely dried. The PSC pipelines are joined with socket and spigot arrangement to allow the water flow in one direction only. Due to unavoidable conditions and to provide water to the consumers the water is transmitted in reverse direction which is causing no.of leakages from the joints of the pipeline. Generally the life of PSC pipeline will be about 30years but now the same pipeline is being used after 50 years of service also and that too allowing the water to flow in reverse direction.  Yesterday there was a heavy leakage at Chandanagar and the same is rectified immediately, (the enclosed photos shows the intensity of the leakage). Inspite of all these difficulties HMWSSB is geared up to supply the water to the areas where the regular sources of supply are dried up.

Hence the residents are requested to understand the hardship through which HMWSSB is passing and extend cooperation in the times of short or delayed supplies. The consumers are also requested to conserve water and use preciously.
