CONSTRUCTION OF STPS IN THE CITY WITH ADVANCED SBR TECHNOLOGY ON 09.03.2022

Sri M. Dana Kishore, Managing Director, HMWSSB has inspected the construction sites of new Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) at Nallacheruvu having a capacity of 86.50 MLD and Nagole with a capacity of 320.00 MLD which are being constructed with the latest advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) Technology. He directed the authorities and construction companies to complete the STPs by this October.

The Managing Director has directed to speed up the construction of STPs by working in three shifts expeditiously. It is suggested that adequate lighting along with protection measures at the work site are be provided. The CCTV cameras are also to be set up at the construction sites which to be connected to the Board office for online monitoring.

SBR Technology which can carry out five stages of wastewater treatment in a single chamber will treat more water in a smaller area. This SBR procedure would cost less than the various biological treatment methods available in the country. SBR system treats wastewater better than other wastewater treatment systems. It is a lightweight approach and would also reduce power consumption.
