HMWSSB READY WITH 16 MONSOON SAFETY TEAMS IN THE WAKE OF THE MONSOON ON 21.06.2022

Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Managing Director, HMWSSB flagged off Monsoon Safety Vehicles at Board Office on 21-06-2022. The HMWSSB made special arrangements by setting up Monsoon Safety Teams (MSTs) along with Vehicles for the safety measures in the wake of Monsoon.

Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director said that a total of 16 Monsoon Safety Teams have been set up with five members in each team with special vehicles will be available round the clock across the city to ensure the safety during the monsoon.

The vehicles are equipped with dewatering motor with a generator along with required emergency implements like parachutes, guards, safety ropes etc made available in these vehicles. The teams will pay special attention at all the waterlogged areas identified by the GHMC. The Mini Air tech machines will also be kept available round the clock for de-watering if any at the water logging points.

He said repairs had already been made to manholes in the city as part of a pre-monsoon plan. Safety grills have also been fixed for deep manholes. He asked the public not to the open manhole covers under any circumstances. The opening of manholes is an offense under Section 74 of the Water Board Act and criminal cases will be registered if anyone opens manhole covers.

Extensive Publicity and Awareness is made to the public on Monsoon Safety & Precautionary Measures through SMS, Voice Calls, FM radio and on Social Media. A campaign has also planned through NGOs, Residential Welfare Associations to conduct awareness programs in the colonies to create awareness on the precautions during the monsoon season.
