FIRST STP OUT OF 31 NEWLY PROPOSED TO BE READY WITHIN A MONTH ON 03.01.2023

Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Managing Director, HMWSSB visited the STPs which are under construction in Durgam Cheruvu, Kokapet and Attapur areas on 03-01-2023. He said that the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) being constructed at Durgam Cheruvu will be made available within a month.

The Durgam Cheruvu STP, which is being constructed with 7 MLD capacity using sequencing batch reactor technology, has been completed by 95 percent and will be made available within a month. Accordingly, the officials were instructed to increase the speed of the construction in three shifts by following appropriate safety measures. In all STP areas, it is suggested to plant the trees for pleasant weather, gardening for greenery.

The works of 31 STPs being constructed in three packages by Jalamandali at a cost of Rs.3866.41 crores are going on at a fast pace with the aim of 100% sewage treatment in Hyderabad city. At present, 1950 million gallons of sewage is generated daily within Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration. Of this, 1650 million gallons is produced in the GHMC area. 772 million gallons of sewage is being treated through the existing 25 sewage treatment plants under GHMC. The Telangana government has taken up the construction of 31 new STPs to treat remaining 878 million gallons of sewage in the first phase to treat the sewage generated for the estimated year 2036.

In this, STPs with a capacity of 978 MLD will be completed by June and remaining by November 2023 with the aim to treat 100 percent sewerage within the GHMC.
