HMWSSB SUMMER ACTION PLAN 2023 - THERE WILL BE NO DRINKING WATER SUPPLY PROBLEM IN SUMMER - MD, HMWSSB ON 14.03.2023

Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS Managing Director, HMWSSB held review meeting with all the Directors, CGMs, GMs and officials of O&M, Revenue, Transmission on the Summer Action Plan 2023 on 14-03-2023 at Board office. The MD said that there will be no drinking water supply problem this summer.

He said that HMWSSB is currently supplying 565 million gallons of water daily and arrangements are being made to supply another 42 million gallons of water and measures are also being taken up for water supply to ORR villages without problem.

50 MGD of Water Supply to ORR Project Phase – 2:

Arrangements are being made to complete the ORR Phase-2 project by this June. He said that while 20 MGD of water is already being given to the municipalities, municipal corporations, gram panchayats, colonies and gated communities in ORR, another 30 MGD will be supplied depending on the requirement. It is said that by the time the project is completed, a total of 50 MGD of water will be supplied to the people of this area.

Bore Well Repairs:

The MD instructed the officials to check the functioning of bore wells and ordered for repairs if any under the Annual Maintenance System (AMS) wherever necessary.

Additional Water Supply through Tankers:

The MD has approved for  additional tanker filling stations at required places. in addition to the 74 filling stations currently functioning across the city. Besides, MD has also suggested to increase the number of water tankers and trips as per requirement. Water supply timings are to be  increased depending upon on the demand in those areas. In case of power cuts, motor repairs and other problems in filling stations, alternative arrangements are to be made to ensure that people do not face any water difficulties.

An appropriate action plan has also been ordered on the preventive measures to avoid contaminated water. He also ordered to identify the vulnerable areas where water is being wasted due to the supply of pollution  water and take appropriate preventive measures to solve the problem. Water leakages and sewage overflows should be resolved from time to time. MD has also suggested to remove the silt taken from the manholes from time to time. If the manholes are destroyed anywhere, reconstruction should be taken up immediately, even if the covers of the manholes are not visible, new covers should be installed immediately.

Special arrangements in view of Ramzan:

In view of the ensuing Ramzan month, the MD has  instructed the officials to arrange water supply to the mosques through tankers and see to that there are no problems like sewage overflow anywhere. He said mini jetting machines should be kept available for the purpose and the silt brought out during sewage works from time to time for easy water and sewage management.
