Due to the incessant rains for two days, the twin reservoirs of Himayatsagar and Osmansagar are getting heavy inflow. As a result, the two gates of both the reservoirs were raised by 2 feet at 8 am in the morning and the water was released downstream on 05-09-2023.

Later, as the flood level increased by the afternoon, the gates height was lifted accordingly. 4000 cusecs of inflow is coming to Himayat Sagar and  4120 cusecs of water is being released through another 4 gates. Similarly the inflow of 1600 cusecs comning to Osman Sagar and 1380 cusecs of flood water is being released through another 4 gates. In total, 5600 cusecs of inflow is coming to the two reservoirs, and 5500 cusecs of outflow is being released into the Musi river through 12 gates.

Sri M. Dana Kishore, MD, HMWSSB instructed the officers of HMWSSB and concerned departments to be vigilant about the Musi catchment areas.
