Order to focus on hotspots- Request people not to open manhole covers

Dana Kishore, IAS,  Managing Director, HMWSSB has directed the officers to take all possible precautionary measures without any inconvenience to the people due to the incessant rains for the last few days and the Emergency Rescue Teams should be vigilant round the clock. A review was conducted with officers on Monday 27.09.2021 at the Board office.

Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director has said that in the wake of heavy rains for the last few days, the HMWSSB staff are instructed to take action to prevent any trouble to the people. He said precautionary measures should be taken to identify areas where sewerage overflow through manholes. Apart from working  of ERT teams, the Air-Tech machines are also to be deployed and made available for immediate repairs if any. The field officers must ensure the safety grills to the manholes and fixing of the lids on the deeper manholes must be checked. The water logging points should be monitored regularly and the drainage leakages  should be stopped immediately. He also directed the officials to keep the warning boards be set up near deeper manholes in flood prone areas and sewerage supervisors are also must be available round the clock.

He further directed the officials to take special measures to prevent contamination of drinking water due to rains.

He advised the people not to open manhole covers under any circumstances. If the manhole cover is damaged anywhere, they must call customer care number 155313.
