The HMWSSB has shut down the 10 gates of Himayatsagar reservoir after the flood water has started to recede for last 24 hours. The 10 gates of Himayatsagar out of 17 were lifted by 2 feet in order to release the excess water into Musi for the past 48 hours. On 29-09-2021 the 8 gates of Himyatsagar were shutdown and kept open 2 gates to release 1400 cusecs of water.

On the other hand, the Osmansagar 2 gates were kept open since the flood water continues to arrive into Osmansagar.  The Himayatsagar FTL is 1763.50 Feet (2.97 TMC) and Osmansagar FTL is 1790.00 Feet (3.90 TMC).
