WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM IN THE CITY WITH 30 YEARS OF FORESIGHT - MINISTER KTR LAID THE FOUNDATION STONE FOR 2 PROJECTS UNDER ORR PHASE – I & II ON 24.01.2022

Sri K.T. Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for MA&UD has laid the foundation stone for the ORR Project Package-2 to provide drinking water to the villages, colonies and gated communities in the suburbs of Hyderabad within the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The event took place in Alkapur Township under Manikonda Municipality on 24-01-2022.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and the population is growing rapidly due to the geographical and climatic conditions prevailing in the city. The KCR government has taken up large scale measures to provide drinking water to the urban people with lot of efforts. In the first phase, an improved water supply system has been set up within GHMC at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore.

He said that in addition to meeting the current needs, the HMWSSB is working to meet the needs upto 2051. "Currently, the HMWSSB is supplying about 535 MGD of water to the ORR along with the city and it is estimated that 1000 MGD will be required by 2051.

Sri. KTR said that it was the idea of ​​Chief Minister KCR that there would be no drinking water problems in Hyderabad in the 30 years and hence the mega projects like Kaleshwaram, Kondapochamma Sagar and Mallannasagar were constructed to divert water to Gandipet to avoid any water problem for the future generations.
