DRINKING WATER PROBLEMS GOT SOLVED IN THE NEWLY FORMED TELANGANA STATE - SAID MINISTER KTR IN INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH WARD LEVEL OFFICIALS ON 10.06.2023

On the occasion of Good Governance Day as part of the Telangana Dashabdi celebrations, an interaction session was held at Hitex on 10-06-2023 with the Ward Level Offices. Sri K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for MA&UD said, by the end of August this year, the government is going to purify every drop of sewage generated in the Hyderabad city as a result, Hyderabad will become the first city in the country to have 100 percent sewage treatment.

The Minister said that 31 new STPs are being constructed at a cost of Rs.3866 crores under the management of HMWSSB. He said that in Mumbai, which is the financial capital of the country, is having only 9 percent of sewage is being treated.

He also said the ward offices are being set up for administrative convenience with a total of 10 officials, one each from HMWSSB, GHMC, Electricity Board and other major departments to solve the related departmental grievances at the local level. The staff working in these ward offices are to work by maintaining harmonious relations with the people to solve their grievances.

Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Managing Director, HMWSSB along with other directors participated in this program. The MD said that our Hyderabad has drinking water facilities which no other city in the country other than Telangana State has spent Rs.18,000 crores for drinking water and related projects in the last nine years. He said that drinking water supply services, which were limited to the city in the past, have now expanded to ORR. He explained that already free drinking water is being supplied to the extent of 20,000 liters per month within the limits of GHMC and said that if the Sunkishala Intake Well project which is currently under construction near Nagarjuna Sagar is completed, there will be no drinking water problem for the future generations.

Duties of HMWSSB Ward Assistants:

There will be a total of 10 staff members in the new ward office who are to focus on the following problems within the ward and receive complaints from people and solve them.

Drinking water supply: low pressure problem, contaminated water supply, pipe line, valve leakage, illegal connections, low chlorine content.

Sewage Management: Chokage at manholes, manhole damage, repair, sewage overflow, removal of silt.

Billing : Meter reading issues, change of name, verification of overbilling, payment of arrears, establishment of new water  connection, deletion.

Other Grievances : Tanker Services, Tanker Delivery Grievances, Line Changes, etc.

Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Malla Reddy, MLAs, MLCs, Special Chief Secretary Sri Arvind Kumar, CDMA Commission and various others participated in the meeting.
