MD, HMWSSB INSPECTED VARIOUS STPS UNDER CONSTRUCTION ON 31.07.2023

Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS Managing Director, HMWSSB along with Dr. M. Satyanarayana, ED, D. Sridhar Babu,  Director Projects, CGMs and other officials inspected Fatehnagar, Khajakunta, Miyapur - Patel Pond STPs on 31-07-2023. The MD instructed the officials and construction agency to  speed up the work by increasing the number of workers along with other related men and machinery to speed up  the Inlet, Outlet, clamping of machines, electrical works and all should be done in parallel and complete the construction of STPs within the stipulated time with quality standards in the works and special arrangements are to be done to prevent odour from the STPs constructed near the residences using new technology.

1650 Million Gallons of sewage is generated daily in the GHMC area. Already 772 million gallons of sewage is being treated through 25 STPs and for the remaining 878 million gallons of sewage, the state government has taken up the construction of 31 new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology in 5 circles in 3 packages at a cost of Rs.3,866.41 crores.

1) In Package-I, 8 STPs will be set up in Alwal, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Uppal circle areas at a cost of Rs.1230.21 crore. Through these, 402.50 MLDs of sewage will be treated.

2) In Package-II, 6 STPs will be set up in Rajendranagar and LB Nagar circle areas at a cost of Rs.1355.33 crores. 480.50 MLD of sewage is treated here.

3) In Package-III, 17 STPs will be set up at a cost of Rs.1280.87 crore in Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Serilingampally circle areas and 376.5 MLD of sewage will be treated here.

Once these 31 STPs are constructed, the Hyderabad will become the first city in India to treat 100% sewage.
